IAE's Professional Learning Community for Communication

All administrators, faculty, staff, and students in a culturally diverse educational environment have biases and expectations that shape how they interact with one another. As a result, one of the most serious problems is the failure to communicate. Therefore, the primary objective of this Professional Learning Community (PLC) is to assist all members within our academic community in acquiring the knowledge, motivation and skills to effectively communicate with one another through the following:

  1. Identifying the barriers to effective communication that face our students.
  2. Acquisitioning and utilization of resources to educate the community at large to eradicate, eliminate, and/or minimize the impact of identified barriers.
  3. Implementation and institutionalization of new programs specifically designed to enhance and promote culturally responsive teaching and classrooms to advance student learning, retention and completion.
