About Our Campus
The Indian River State College Dixon Hendry Campus provides a wide range of educational opportunities to the residents of Okeechobee County. Most of the area's college-bound high school seniors attend The River. In addition, hundreds of Okeechobee residents prepare for a Bachelor's Degree program at IRSC or university transfer, build skills for in-demand careers, benefit from customized business training, or take advantage of Adult Education/GED® Preparation at the IRSC Dixon Hendry Campus.
The Dixon Hendry Campus offers academic counseling, course registration, financial aid information, and other student services. Telephone and online registration are also available for IRSC students.
Directions to the Dixon Hendry Campus
From I-95 or the Florida Turnpike (North or South): Exit at Ft. Pierce (State Road 70). Go west on State Road 70 approximately 30 miles. At the intersection of State Road 70 and Hwy 441, turn north. Proceed approximately two (2) miles and turn left on NW 23rd Lane. Go to the three-way STOP sign and turn left onto 9th Avenue. The campus is on your right.

Bachelor's Degrees:Indian River State College offers Bachelor's Degree programs in Biology; Business Administration; Criminal Justice; Digital Media with concentrations in Graphics & Web, Gaming & Video, and Modeling & Simulation; Human Services with concentrations in Youth & Family Studies, Addictions Studies, and Generalist; Information Technology/Security Management; Nursing; Teacher Education in math and science for middle school and high school, Exceptional Student Education (ESE); Organizational Management, Health Care Management and Public Administration with concentrations in Public Policy & Leadership and Emergency Planning & Management. These programs are offered within easy driving distance for Treasure Coast residents, with small classes and personal attention. Tuition for IRSC Bachelor's programs is 40% less than the cost at Florida public universities.
Students who have earned an A.A. Degree at Indian River State College will be prepared for a Bacholor's Degree program at IRSC and are guaranteed transfer to a Florida public university.
Associate in Arts Degree: Providing an opportunity to earn a college degree right in Okeechobee County, the Dixon Hendry Campus offers a full schedule of courses for the Associate in Arts degree.
Associate in Science Degree and Technical Certificates: IRSC students are on the fast track to a rewarding high-tech career with an A.S. Degree or Technical Certificate. As the state-designated Vocational Technical Center, IRSC offers training in Florida's fastest growing careers - and IRSC students have a record of success! IRSC A.S. Degree students have a history of 100 percent passing rates on state and national licensure exams and typically have jobs in their chosen field upon graduation.
||The Dixon Hendry Campus currently consists of three educational buildings. The spacious Educational Building B doubled existing classroom space making it possible to expand programs and services to meet the needs of Okeechobee students. Classes are conveniently scheduled during the day, evening and weekend hours. The Williamson Conference and Education Center serves as a technologically sophisticated venue for business meetings, conferences and community events. The multi-purpose Center also houses additional laboratory and classroom space.
Students can also earn college credits through online classes and participate in classes at the Main Campus - without the drive. Students are provided with free tutoring in the Academic Support Center (ASC), and three computer labs, a teaching auditorium, and a nursing training complex offer a state-of-the-art learning environment. College preparatory courses are offered to provide a firm foundation for Associate and Bachelor's Degree programs.

The Dixon Hendry Campus serves as a hub for workforce development in Okeechobee County. Special programs to meet the needs of Okeechobee businesses include:

A leader in economic development, IRSC works closely with Okeechobee County businesses to enhance employee skills. The IRSC Corporate and Community Training Institute offers customized business training, at job sites, at the times most convenient for the business or organization.
IRSC offers Adult Education at the Dixon Hendry Campus and community locations throughout Okeechobee. Services include GED® Preparation and English as a Second Language and citizenship instruction.
High School/College Dual Enrollment
High school students who wish to speed their progress toward a college degree and a career can get a head start through dual enrollment by earning high school and college credits simultaneously at no cost to their parents. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information.
