About the Department

The Indian River State College Department of Social Sciences is a multicultural, multidisciplinary department that provides fundamental training in the fields of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. The department offers excellence in instruction in a positive academic environment, and provides students with a solid foundation for academic achievement in baccalaureate programs. Students who successfully complete courses in the Social Sciences develop an awareness of the dynamics of the diverse global community including its behavioral, cultural, economic, and political dimensions. Graduating students will be able to demonstrate an ability to apply varying theoretical and scientific perspectives to their understanding of social institutions and interpersonal interactions.
