Announcing the May Staff Employee of the Month

Juan Robert Mora, Maintenance I

Port St. Lucie resident Juan Robert Mora is being recognized as the Indian River State College May Employee of the Month. Starting at IRSC in September of 2004 as a Custodian I, John works today as a Maintenance I member of the IRSC team at the Clark Advanced Learning Center in Stuart. He has worked at the school since its opening in 2004. Juan is known at the Clark by the students and staff as “Robert.” As a Character Counts school, he exemplifies all of the pillars of character addressed by Character Counts every day at the Clark.

Robert serves as a role model, not only for his fellow employees, but for the students whose lives he touches daily. Many people think a maintenance employee’s job is one that remains behind the scenes, quietly caring for the grounds and cleaning up messes left by others, but not Robert. His mission is to serve as an ambassador for the Clark and for IRSC. He is an active citizen in everything done at the Clark. He can be counted on to make sure that any materials needed are ready and displayed accordingly; and to bring a positive, energetic presence to anything happening around campus. From ice cream socials where he serves the students with a smile and by name, to community activities hosted by the school, Robert prides himself on feeling a connection to the school and College that he represents as well as the students for whom he cares. Robert serves as a model of patience and good humor to everyone. He never loses his cool and can be counted on to address any problem with patience and a sense of calm. Any task he is asked to complete, he can be trusted to accomplish without complaint.

Robert’s coworkers share how his conscientious attitude and service on the job assists everyone at the Clark Advanced Learning Center. One co-worker shares that, “Robert is willing to help out, Courteous is his middle name.” Another person mentions, “He is always the first person at the school each and every day.” They continue sharing that “Each and every day with Robert starts with a smile and a ‘good morning.’”
