IRSC IS NAMED IN THE TOP 150 COMMUNITY COLLEGES
ELIGIBLE FOR THE 2019 ASPEN PRIZE
Aspen Prize 150

Dr. Edwin Massey celebrates IRSC's Aspen Awards with members of the student body on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence Program engages in a rigorous two-year-long process that assesses student outcomes at over 1,000 community colleges in the United States. Once again IRSC has been recognized as being one of the Top 150 colleges in the nation! This designation indicates that IRSC is a strong candidate to compete for the Aspen Prize that will be awarded in 2019.

Honored earlier this year as a Top Three Community College in the nation for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, Indian River State College has been selected for Aspen Prize eligibility in 2019. Named in the top 150 colleges, IRSC will compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance among America’s community colleges.

Colleges are assessed for exceptional student outcomes in student learning, certificate/degree completion and transfer, employment earnings and equity.

“This national recognition is a reflection of the pervasive dedication to continuous improvement throughout the entire College,” said Dr. Edwin Massey, IRSC President. “Our efforts are ensuring that more students succeed in college and their careers.”

IRSC ranked as a Top Ten Finalist in 2015 and was named a Finalist with Distinction in 2017. The Top Ten Finalists for 2019 will be named in May 2018.

In March, IRSC was named a 2017 Aspen Prize Finalist with Distinction and presented with a $100,000 award. IRSC was selected from more than 1,000 state and community colleges following a rigorous review of data, strategies and outcomes related to student learning, degree and certificate completion, rates of graduate employment, graduate earning and access and success for minority and low-income students.
