There are several types of scholarships offered by the IRSC Foundation: Deadlines Vary!

  • IRSC ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS for new and returning IRSC students. Deadline: January 31, 2010
  • TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS for graduates of IRSC who wish to continue their education at an upper-division university. Deadline: January 31, 2010
  • BACHELOR'S DEGREE SCHOLARSHIPS for students in an IRSC Bachelor's Degree Program. Deadline: January 31, 2010
  • IRSC HEALTH SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIPS for students enrolled in one of IRSC's Health Science Programs. Deadline: May 24, 2010
  • PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE/TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN SCHOLARSHIPS for middle and high school students who remain drug and alcohol free, maintain good attendance and grades, and graduate from high school. Students are selected during their 8th grade year.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities:

The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) is awarding three $1200 scholarships to eligible students majoring in either Political Science/Public or Business Administration or Journalism/Mass Communication. Applicants must be U.S. citizens registered to vote, a Florida resident for two years preceding the academic year for which application is made, enrolled as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida (no postgraduate or second-degree students), have finished two years of junior college or undergraduate work and have maintained at least a "C" average the previous year. Download the FSASE application and detailed guidelines. Applications and letters of recommendations must be received by local Supervisor of Elections by March 19, 2010. Materials should be mailed to Gertrude Walker, Supervisor of Elections, 4132 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947.

The Home Depot has just launched its 2010 Trade Scholarship Program. This $1,000 scholarship will help students enrolled in building and construction trade programs offset the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies as well as awarding the recipients' schools with an additional $1000 for tools and supplies. The Home Depot more than tripled the scholarship fund it first established in 2009 and will be awarding more than $1 million in scholarships and grants as part of the program. The scholarship program is open nationwide to students currently enrolled or accepted in a professional building or construction trade program. Students can log onto www.homedepot.com/tradescholarship  to learn more and apply. The application deadline is April 30, 2010.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
For upcoming sophomore, junior, or senior college students planning to pursue a baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and major in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. The Ethel "Hutchie" Altobello Nursing Scholarship is designed to assist students who reside in Okeechobee County and are enrolled in an IRSC Nursing program (CNA, LPN, ADN, or BSN). Student must have/maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher to be eligible. Application deadline is  May 24th, 2010. Download the application now. Hard Copies are also available at the IRSC Okeechobee Campus. The Agnes Peebles Memorial Scholarship is award to female graduates of a high school in Indian River County (private or public).  Recipients must plan to attend a four-year Florida “State” college. The student does not have to be a recent graduate and may currently be attending college.  Applications must be submitted to Judy Stang, District School Board of Indian River County, 1990 25th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 by March 12, 2010.  Email Judy at judy.stang@indianriverschools.org with questions.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
Applicant must be an IRSC graduate planning to transfer to an accredited four-year institution and possess the potential to make a significant contribution to a field of study and/or society. Additional qualification areas include a GPA of 3.3 or higher, financial need, leadership and public service, and critical thinking abilities. To learn more, visit http://www.jkcf.org. The Davis Family Altruistic Foundation Scholarship is available to all employees and dependents of R. K. Davis Construction Corporation employees who aspire to a higher education.  Recipients must have a 2.0 or higher GPA.  Test scores and financial need will be taken into consideration.  To apply, please download and submit an application to Melissa DePriest, IRSC Foundation Development Coordinator.  The deadline to apply is March 5, 2010.

The Florida Council of the Blind is offering scholarships to outstanding students enrolled in academic education or professional training beyond the high school level. Eligibility requirements and additional scholarship information is available at www.fcb.org. (Applicants must be legally blind and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.)

The IRSC Real Estate Institute Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and books for the IRSC Pre-licensing course "Real Estate Principles and Practices I" (REE 1040) and the Real Estate State Exam. Students interested in applying for this scholarship may download the attached IRSC Real Estate Institute Scholarship Application and should submit their completed application to Mr. John Butler, IRSC Business/Real Estate Department, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981-5596. The annual TYLENOL® Scholarship program application is now available to students who are pursuing careers in the healthcare, life sciences, or related fields. This year, TYLENOL be awarding $250,000 in scholarships based on leadership qualities and academic performance, including ten $10,000 and thirty $5,000 grants. Applications must be received by May 15, 2009. Winners will be selected by July 15, 2009. Funds delivered by August 2009. The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program
The Home Depot® established its first-ever Trade Scholarship Program. Through the program, the Company will award more than 600 students enrolled in building and construction trade programs $500 to help offset the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies. In total, more than $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded to support the future leaders of the building and construction industries. The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program is open to students nationwide currently enrolled in a building and construction trade school program at a college, university or accredited educational institution who will be entering into the final year or term of their degree or career program. The Military Officers Association of America, Cape Canaveral Chapter is pleased to announce that it will award 10 college scholarships of $3500 each to deserving men and women who meet the qualifications. To learn more about this scholarship, please visit www.moaacc.org . Deadline to apply is June 15, 2009.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, an educational and youth leadership development organization, has launched a national campaign to recruit Hispanic students - undergraduate and graduate- for its nationally recognized youth development leadership programs. Opportunities include internships, fellowships and scholarships. To be eligible, all program applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, be a graduate or undergraduate student with a 3.0 GPA, have remarkable leadership potential, and have demonstrated a vast history and commitment to community and public service. The Johnson Scholarship, funded by the Johnson Scholarship Foundation, is a competitively awarded program which is available to undergraduate students with disabilities with financial need who enroll in a State University System of Florida (SUS) institution. The Grumman Retiree Club Scholarship has been established to assist a distinguished Indian River State College student who is majoring in pre-engineering. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average and will be required to submit (via the online STARS application) an essay describing his/her aspirations and goals.
