| Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements: |
| The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include a minimum of three (3) years proven current surgical technology experience, certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Bachelors degree in nursing or a related health or medical field, credentialed as a CST, or CNOR, and two (2) years of teaching or clinical coordination experience in Surgical Technology program are preferred. This position requires current knowledge and technical practice skills as a Surgical Technologist, or a Certified Nurse in the Operating Room, as well as experience in counseling students. Experience teaching adults in a community college setting and or clinical coordination experience is also preferred with proficiency in instruction, curriculum design, program planning and student counseling. All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS). |
| Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: |
| The essential job functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: responsibilities in both instruction and or clinical coordination. Duties involve organizing and providing educational experiences leading to student credentialing and gainful employment as a Surgical Technologists, establishing program admission criteria recruitment of student, instruction in the clinical curriculum, and application and maintaining accreditation status. |
| Specific Duties and Responsibilities: |
The specific duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Collaborating with faculty and staff in the IRSC programs in Health Science and with other IRSC program areas.
2. Effectively instructing courses in Surgical Technology /Perioperative Nursing.
3. Evaluating student progress through examinations and observations of performance.
4. Actively supporting student success through individual counseling and advising.
5. Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings.
6. Maintaining own professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs.
7. Accepting direction from the Surgical Technology program director.
8. Adhering to all IRSC policies and procedures.

| Essential Physical Skills: |
| This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
