| Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements: |
| The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include a minimum of an Associate in Science degree, Certification by the State of Florida, Department of Health and the Division of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic and/or a Florida licensed Registered Nurse. This position requires current knowledge and technical skill in the field of clinical emergency medicine as well as proficiency in instruction, and inter-personal skills. Preference will be given to applicants with ACLS, ITLS, PALS, PEBB or CPR instructor certifications. All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS). |
| Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: |
The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Instruction in classroom or skills laboratory or supervision of students in hospital clinical rotations for the EMT/ Paramedic programs.
2. Demonstration of safe patient management, professional behavior and sound judgment.
3. Demonstration of current knowledge and technical expertise in field of emergency medicine.
4. Demonstration of oral and written communication skills and team work.

| Specific Duties and Responsibilities: |
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
1) Instructing courses including lecture, laboratory, and clinical rotations to meet the overall course objectives and program goals.
2) Overseeing the preparation, assignment, and supervision of students while on clinical rotations.
3) Evaluating student progress using multiple teaching methodologies, and maintaining accurate student records.
4) Supporting student success through counseling, advising, and assisting individual students.
5) Maintaining positive communication with affiliating health care agencies.
6) Participating in department, division and college adjunct faculty meetings.
7) Maintaining equipment and supplies on assigned campus(es).
8) Participating in professional development activities to enhance professional knowledge and skill.
9) Performing other duties as assigned.

| Essential Physical Skills: |
| This position requires frequent lifting of equipment – may include above the head; ability to lift and carry 100 lbs; frequent standing for long periods of time; physical abilities to carry out duties as an EMS professional including: having a concept of time and being able to record seconds, minutes, and hours from a watch or clock; reading, writing, conversing, and comprehending in fluent English; listening to an individual speak through a radio and be able to respond in an audible and intelligible manner; listening through a stethoscope for breath sounds and blood pressure readings; walking and working in small spaces, various weather conditions, and various physical environments; having the tactile and visual ability sufficient for physical assessment; manipulating and handling equipment such as a stretcher from floor to a height of 36 inches.
