| Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements: |
| The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include the ability to work well with a diverse student population; proven sign language interpreter skills and knowledge; the ability to communicate fluently and interpret competently using American Sign Language or signed English depending on the preference of the student; ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated; well-developed interpersonal skills; and good judgment. This position prefers an Associates Degree. |

| The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: communicating fluently and interpreting competently using American Sign Language or signed English depending on the preference of the student. |
| Specific Duties and Responsibilities: |
| The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: providing sign language interpreter service to students with hearing impairments for various College functions and classes; interpreting classroom instruction, laboratory sessions, examinations, assessments, extra-curricular activities, and meetings involving students with hearing impairments and IRSC personnel; and other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Sign Language Interpreters must adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID). |
| Essential Physical Skills: |
| This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College. |
