Salary:With Bachelors degree: $17.10 per hour; $453 per credit hour
With Masters degree: $18.75 per hour; $505 per credit hour
With Doctorate degree: $21.01 per hour; $566 per credit hour
 
Hours:The hours are based on class and lab schedules, up to a maximim of 20 hours per week.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelors degree in a related field. Verification of job experience with welding positions, and demonstrated ability in welding and knowledge of welding techniques and equipment are required. Welding certifications and some verified training or classroom instructional experience are preferred. All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: teaching in both classroom and lab environments; demonstrating welding techniques; maintaining a safe learning environment in the welding lab at all times, recommending purchases for welding activities; overseeing equipment repairs; monitoring of materials and supplies for lab and classroom activities, assisting with scheduling of welding classes, recruiting students; overseeing the welding classroom and lab facilities; overseeing duties of lab assistant.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibiliteis iinclude, but are not limited to: constructing and delivering classroom lectures; demonstrating welding techniques and procedures; requiring safe welding practices at all time; recruiting students; with input from the Department Chair of Automotive, maintaining supplies, equipment, and materials for the welding classroom and lab; reporting any malfunctions or breakage of equipment to the proper staff; constructing class syllabus; maintaining student files; providing student grades in a timely fashion, maintaining student attendance records; managing lab tools and equipment to minimize theft and breakage.

Essential Physical Skills:
The position requires the use of torches, welding masks, gloves, enclosed footwear, and other safety equipment specific to welding. Instructors must be able to lift metals and welding equipment as required for standard welding applications. This position also requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
