Agriculture Production Technology Program
Today, all phases of agriculture, from research to production and marketing, demand employees with the education and technical training to apply new technological advances. IRSC's popular Agricultural Production Technology program provides a foundation in basic agricultural sciences, such as soils, fertilizers, chemicals, animal nutrition, agronomy, animal science, citrus, crop production and more. Students will also be prepared to meet the managerial, financial, and marketing challenges associated with the agriculture industry. The program offers four areas of specialization: Aquaculture, and Environmental Horticulture. A certificate is also available in Aquaculture Technology (see below).
The Agriculture department at IRSC consists of three A.A.S. degree programs.
Aquaculture is the fastest growing form of food production in the world. Globally, nearly half the fish consumed by humans is produced by fish farms. With this trend, the demand for safe, healthy production of seafood is expected to grow. Partnering with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, this unique degree program integrates traditional classroom learning with practical industry experience, preparing students to build a career, start or expand an aquaculture business, or implement new technology into traditional farming.
