Carol Amole, M.S.N., R.N. – Assistant Professor

Carol-AmoleCarol Amole received her master’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Alderson Broaddus College. Professor Amole has been a nurse for over 30 years. She has worked in a variety of roles in healthcare including staff nurse, nurse manager as well as a staff educator before teaching full time. Her areas of expertise include Psychiatric Nursing and Nursing Ethics.

Lynn Crowell, M.S.N., R.N. – Associate Professor

Lynn-CrowellLynn Crowell received her master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in nursing from Barry University and an associate degree from Palm Beach State College. She is currently completing a PhD in Education, with a specialization in nursing education at Capella University. Professor Crowell has been a nurse for over 29 years. She has worked in a variety of roles in healthcare including medical surgical nursing, community nursing, and family nursing as a nurse practitioner before teaching full time.

Jennifer Doak, D.N.P., A.R.N.P. - B.C. – Professor

Jennifer-DoakDr. Jennifer Doak received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from University of Florida. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner receiving a post graduate certificate in Pediatric Nursing from the University of Florida. Professor Doak maintains a national certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Pediatric Nursing. Prior to working at Indian River State College, Dr. Doak was the Head Nurse of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and worked in various roles in the hospital setting. She has served as an Item Writer for the National Council of the State Boards of Nursing and has also served as a pilot participant for the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Dr. Doak received college wide recognition by being awarded the Instructional Innovation award. She is a member of the Florida Nurses Association and serves as the President of the local chapter of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives. Professor Doak is an active member of the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioners Association and a volunteer with the HANDS (Health Access Network Delivery Systems) clinic of Ft. Pierce.

Gay Oyco Divinagracia, M.A., R.N. - B.C.

Gay-Oyco-DivinagraciaMs. Divinagracia received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of the Philippines, with specialization in Maternal and Child Health Nursing. Before leaving permanently for the US, she was a nursing faculty at the Medical City School for Nursing and taught in the BSN program for 5 years. Ms. Divinagracia has experience working as an in-service educator in two long-term care settings owned by the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation and a privately owned 500-bed facility in Manhattan. Associate Professor Divinagracia came to IRSC 25 years ago as a full-time faculty; she has been actively teaching in both the ADN and BSN programs. She has earned two certifications in the field of gerontology/gerontological nursing; one from Florida Atlantic University and the other from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has served twice as an Item Writer for the National Council of the State Boards of Nursing and has also served as an Item Writer (Gerontologic Nursing) for the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ms. Divinagracia also served as Site Visitor for the former National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Associate Professor Divinagracia is a recipient of an Endowed Teaching Chair for Advancing Geriatric Nursing Education.

Alice Serey, D.N.P., R.N. – Associate Professor

Alice-SereyDr. Serey received her doctoral degree from the University of South Florida with a focus in nursing education. Her master’s degree is from Florida Atlantic University and her bachelor’s is from Eastern Kentucky University. She began her nursing career as a medical-surgical nurse in West Virginia and Jupiter, Florida before teaching at IRSC, and has continued working in local hospitals. She is currently employed as a per diem nurse at Sebastian River Medical Center working in med-surg, critical care and outpatient surgery. During her tenure at IRSC, she has served as department chair, president of the IRSC chapter of Association of Florida Colleges and is the current president of the Honor Society for Nursing. Dr. Serey has also served as chair, or been a member of, multiple committees related to student success and retention, and as a Site Visitor for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing for over 15 years. She has edited and contributed to textbooks on medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology and medical terminology, and presented at state-wide and national conferences.

Lisa Smith, Ph.D., R.N. – Associate Professor

Lisa-SmithDr. Smith received her doctorate in nursing from Barry University. She has been an RN for 30 years, and holds national certification as a Certified Nurse Educator. She has published on virtual simulation in the Journal of Scholastic Inquiry: Education. Professor Smith’s expertise is critical care and nursing administration. She has worked in a variety of positions over the years from staff nurse to nurse administrator.

Patricia Gagliano, Ph.D., R.N. – Professor

Patricia-GaglianoDr. Gagliano received her doctorate in nursing from Barry University. She has been a RN for over 15 years working in both the public and private sectors in healthcare. Professor Gagliano enjoys working with the local health departments and participates in health screenings focused on the pediatric population.

Mary Jane Hopkins, A.R.N.P., M.S.N. - Associate Professor

Mary-Jane-HopkinsMary Jane Hopkins received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hunter College, Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City and her Master of Science in Nursing Degree and Family Nurse Practitioner education from Florida Atlantic University. She practiced as an Emergency Department nurse in New York City and later in the Outpatient Center at the same hospital. Since joining the faculty of IRSC, she was awarded the Bank Atlantic Endowed Teaching Chair for the coordination and implementation of the online theory courses in Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Professor Hopkins is a member of the Florida Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing, Association of Florida Colleges, American Association of University Professors and serves as a faculty advisor for the IRSC Nursing Student Association. She is a recipient of the Great 100 Nurses Award for Nursing Education from the Florida Nurses Association. Professor Hopkins serves as a member of the Treasure Coast Hospice Ethics Committee and is a member of the St. Lucie Diabetic Coalition.

Rosemarie Mason, M.S.N., R.N. - Associate Professor

Rosemarie-MasonRosemarie Mason received her master’s degree with a specialization as a family nurse practitioner from Florida Atlantic University and an associate of science degree from Indian River Community College. She has been teaching at Indian River State College since the late 1990’s and has taught in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program, Associate Degree Nursing Program, and the Baccalaureate Nursing Program. Her clinical background is varied and includes the areas of emergency, medical-surgical, oncology, and home health. MS. Mason’s experience as a nurse practitioner was primarily focused on care of the geriatric client in the long term care and assisted living setting.

Andrea Perini, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E. - Assistant Professor

Andrea-PeriniDr. Perini has worked as a nurse for over 25 years. Her portfolio included experience in ICU, ED, PACU, OR, and nursing supervision with a specialty in critical care nursing and medication administration. Professor Perini obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s in nursing from the University of Phoenix and PhD in nursing from Barry University in Miami, FL. She obtained her certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) from the National League of Nursing.

Maria Seidel, A.R.N.P., D.N.P.- Associate Professor

Maria-SeidelProfessor Seidel received her doctorate in nursing education, DNP, from the University of South Florida. She also completed her masters at Florida Atlantic University specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner, received her BSN from Northern Michigan and is certified in Quality Matters for virtual teaching.

Dr. Seidel’s experience in nursing spans over 15 years having worked as a staff nurse and charge nurse in acute care settings such as the emergency department and intensive care. She has published Fundamentals of Nursing, Multimedia Lecture Series, along with her colleague Mary Jane Hopkins. Dr. Seidel was a contributor to Dunphy’s and Winland Brown’s Primary Care: The Art and Science of Advance Practice Nursing.

Professor Seidel has served as President of District 24 Florida Nurses Association and attended conventions, participating as a delegate. She is a recipient of the “Great 100 Nurses Award for Nursing Education” from the Florida Nurses Association. Some of her achievements at IRSC include, “Professor of the Year” from the Florida Association of Community Colleges, and Endowed Teaching Chair for Simulation Experience in Nursing. and continues to be involved with community service participating in the American Cancer Society, St. Lucie County Diabetic Coalition, and Hospice of the Treasure Coast.

She was recognized as “IRSC Faculty of the Year” in 2011, a student driven nomination and the President’s cup for QM certification 2013. She has been involved in the development of an international service learning program in Costa Rica designed to increase the nursing students’ cultural, historical, and linguistic awareness of the Hispanic culture.

Beverly Solesky, Ph.D., A.R.N.P. – Associate Professor

Beverly-SoleskyDr. Solesky received her doctorate degree in Nursing from the University of Florida, College of Nursing (UFCON). Additionally, she received her Advanced Postgraduate Program in Clinical Investigation Essential Training Program certificate at the University of Florida, College of Medicine while working on her two-year VA Postdoctoral Nurse Fellowship Program. Prior to joining IRSC, Dr. Solesky served as Program Director of the Evidence-based Nursing Practice Program in the VA Nursing Academy at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System in Gainesville. Dr. Solesky has 10 years of clinical experience in cardiovascular nursing and five years of didactic and clinical teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate level.

At IRSC, Dr. Solesky’s teaching responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction at the ADN and BSN level. She has worked and taught at UFCON, Shands Hospital at UF, Shands Hospital at AGH, and the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System. She is passionate about research and is excited to share her knowledge and skills in this area to provide quality nursing care to patients based on evidence.

Jennie Ann (Jo Ann) Stone, Ed.D., M.S.N., R.N., C.N.E. – Associate Professor

Jennie Ann StoneDr. Stone received her doctoral degree in education from Nova Southeastern University in Higher Education specializing in Adult Education Leadership. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing and a master’s degree in nursing from Boston University as a Clinical Specialist in Rehabilitation. Dr. Stone completed the National League for Nursing Academic Nurse Educator Certification Program requirements and holds the designation of Certified Nurse Educator. Other honors include membership in the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, the IRSC Honor Society, and along with the Nursing Department, received the IRSC - Pioneer Award – Certificate of Recognition and the President’s IRSC River Award – Letter of Recognition.

Dr. Stone brings more than 40 years of administrative, education, nursing and leadership experience. She successfully coordinated and implemented distance education programs and continues to pursue her interest in development research, curriculum development, interdisciplinary education and educational leadership. Professor Stone has contributed to publications and spoken at various events concerning the design, implementation and adoption of interdisciplinary education.

Teena White, D.N.P., A.R.N.P. – Associate Professor

Teena-WhiteDr. White received her Doctorate in nursing from the University of Florida and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification from Barry University. She has worked for over 26 years as a nurse between Martin Memorial Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Association of Florida. Dr. White is certified as a Clinician/Practitioner Consultant for the use of electronic health records and works part-time at the VNA of Florida as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor. Professor White’s areas of expertise include Adult Health Nursing, Community Health and Culture & Diversity.

Susan Wise, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E. – Associate Professor

Susan-WiseDr. Wise received her doctorate in nursing from the University of South Florida and is a graduate of the nursing program at IRSC. She has worked for over 30 years as a nurse with clinical experience in orthopedics, med-surg, post-op telemetry, IV infusion and home health. Professor Wise’s professional practice in nursing has encompassed a variety of positions such as staff nurse, charge nurse and director of a home care company.

She has experience as an Item Writer for both the National Council of the State Boards of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center and served as a Site Visitor for the former National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Dr. Wise is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Florida Nurses Association, the IRSC Honor Society, the Association of Florida Colleges, and the American Association of University Professors. Professor Wise was recognized by the Florida Nurses Association with the 100 Great Nurses Award for Nursing Education.
