  • The application process is now over. Thank you for applying. Interviews and Math test will be held the week of November 27, 2017. You will be required to bring 1 letter of recommendation from a current/previous employer or an instructor.

The selected students will be notified by December 6, 2017.

Do you need to put a spark in your career? IRSC offers a variety of day and evening welding classes to earn in field certifications.

What Will I Learn?

bend-testsDuring your time in the program you’ll learn to use welding, flame-cutting and soldering tools in both the flat and vertical positions to create basic joint configurations that will permanently bond or fill holes and indentions in metal products.

Instruction includes the most common process - Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and the widely used Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) technique.

You will also study basic layout and material usage, industry quality standards, safety requirements and interpretation of blueprint drawings. Please take a look at the program brochure to view the areas of instruction.

Welding Technology - Quick Job Training

Program Overview

  • PROGRAM HOURS:
    The Welding program is 1050 hours and follows a cohort design, students will start and finish the entire program as a group.
  • WHEN:
    We offer both a day and night class; the day class meets Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and the night class meets Monday – Thursday, 5:30. p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  • CLASS SIZE:
    We accept up to 18 students in both the day and night class.
  • LENGTH OF COURSE (MONTHS):
    The day class will complete the program in 10 months and the night class will complete the program in 15 months.
  • NEXT CLASS:
    The next class will begin Fall 2017.
  • CERTIFICATIONS:
    The program follows NCCER curriculum and students have the opportunity to obtain NCCER Level 1 & 2 certifications during the program. AWS certification exams are offered at the end of the program.
  • COST:
    The estimated cost of the program is $3,300.00 (in-state tuition), not including the cost of the certification exams, books and supplies.
  • FINANCIAL AID:
    The Welding program is financial aid eligible.  For information on applying, visit our Financial Aid website.
