Respiratory Care

The need for respiratory care professionals is expected to grow over 20 percent by 2018 due to the large increase in the elderly population, the impact of environmental problems contributing to the rise in asthma cases and technological advances in the treatment of heart attack, cancer, accident victims and premature babies.

As a student in the accredited selective admissions Associate in Science Degree program, you’ll be trained to use medical gases, medication, aerosols and chest physiotherapy. You’ll also learn about airway management, mechanical ventilation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Then you’ll put what you’ve learned to work through real-world clinical experiences at a local hospital.

  • A.S. Degree — Gain management and technical skills in many high-demand career fields, with the option to continue toward a Bachelor’s degree at IRSC.
