LEAP Program — Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement, Persistence.

W-207, Main Campus
(772) 462-7862

Why Choose the LEAP Program?

With the help of academic advisors and faculty members from the Indian River State College LEAP First Year Experience program, you’ll develop a solid academic and social foundation to help you get all you can out of your college experience. Monthly meetings and seminars will support your growth and development and prepare you for success. Tutoring in core subjects such as English, reading, and math is offered to improve your basic skills, and fun social and cultural events and activities will complement your experience.

What Will I Learn?

You’ll learn to handle the demands and challenges of college life, to make connections with college staff and faculty, to build positive relationships with other students and prepare for academic success at Indian River State College or for transfer to a university upon graduation. Enrollment in one core remedial subject course (English, math or reading) and one elective (i.e. SLS 1101, Student Success) is required. During the Summer II semester, you’ll attend a series of six skill-building and personal development workshops.

What Is the Cost?

There is no additional charge for the LEAP program. Students are responsible for their own tuition and fees at the current credit hours cost; however, financial aid may be available.

What Are the Requirements?

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Must test into college prep level courses in one or two core subjects.
