IRSC Summer Camps

Indian River State College offers a variety of fun, challenging, and educational summer experiences for primary-, middle-, and high school-aged students.  Kids work directly with coaches, faculty, and staff as they develop key skills and explore their curiosities.

Fill out the registration form or contact the Information Call Center at (772) 462-4772 in St. Lucie County or toll-free at 1-866-792-4772 in Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Act quickly, spots are limited. Camp payment can be made in person at Cashier Window, Crews Hall, W Building, Indian River State College, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, Florida.

Sports Camps

At IRSC Sports Camps, campers at all levels develop confidence and build critical skills while fostering an appreciation for health, fitness, and teambuilding.

Aqua Sports Camp (Half-Day)—Boys and Girls Ages 6–12

June 4–8, June 11–15, June 18–22 or June 25–29
9:00 a.m. until noon
Main Campus, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce

For boys and girls residing in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties. Campers must be comfortable in water depths that exceed their height and be able to swim.

Fee: $95 per session, per camper

Campers enjoy a fun summer experience with instruction in swimming and diving, aquatic games and dry-land activities, led by experienced, safety-certified staff. Basketball Fundamentals Camp (Half-Day)—Boys Ages 7–19

This summer improve your fundamental skills while developing your position skills. Led by the coaches and staff of the IRSC Women’s Basketball Team, campers will review the fundamentals of basic basketball and receive individual and group instruction in their position. Campers will participate in skill stations, contests and scrimmages while improving footwork, rebounding, jumping, shooting, ball handling, screening, offense and defense, dynamics, and stretching. Campers should wear comfortable clothing, basketball shoes and socks, and bring a sweat towel, water and money for concessions. An awards ceremony will be held at the close of the last day of camp. Softball Camp—Girls Ages 6–18

Monday through Friday, June 4–June 8, 2018 or June 25–29, 2018
Age 6–12:            8:00 a.m. until noon
Age 13–18:         1:00–5:00 p.m.

For girls 6 to 18 years of age (as of June 1) who are documented residents of Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties.

Fee: $100 per camper

Jump into the game at IRSC Softball Camp. Campers spend each day training, conditioning and competing. They build skills including throwing, catching, hitting, bunting, base running, pitching and teamwork. Campers should wear sneakers and a hat, and bring a glove, bat, cleats, swimsuit, towel and sack lunch. Swimming Lessons (30-minute sessions)—Boys and Girls Ages 3–11

Monday through Thursday; June 4–7, June 11–14, June 18–21 or June 25–28

For boys and girls residing in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties. Children may enroll for more than one week.

Fee: $35 per session, per camper

Learn to swim with the skilled, safety-certified staff at IRSC. Children have a positive, encouraging learning experience with an emphasis on water safety and survival concepts. Students are tested, placed into developmentally appropriate groups (beginners, advanced beginners and intermediates), and work on skills and develop confidence. Volleyball Camp—Girls in Grades 3–12

July 23–25, 2018
Grades 3–7:        9 a.m. until noon

For girls in grades 3 through 12 residing in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, or Okeechobee counties.

Fee: $90 per camper weekly or $30 per camper daily

Girls, it’s time to make your move at IRSC Volleyball Camp! Campers spend each day training, conditioning and competing. They build skills such as team defense and offense, passing, jumping and setting. Skill prizes will be awarded for all ages. Campers should wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and knee pads, and bring water and money for concessions. Coding with Arduino Bootcamp: Game Programming

Journey into a world where C++ and Java collide. Develop electronic circuits to control software. Turn retro games into real-life functioning models. Use the Arduino as a synthesizer to replicate the theme songs from retro games. Create a clock that displays the lunar cycle, time of day, day of week, week of month, and month of year. Develop an electronic circuit that senses color and can reproduce that same color. Code Pong in Java. Develop a virtual Etch-A-Sketch using your Arduino as your controller and your computer as the display. Create a rotating SONAR device that resembles technology used on submarines. Learn how your TV remote works, find out how an Arduino can tell if your plants have enough water, and discover how to program your very own clock. Expand on your knowledge of computer coding using the Arduino microcontroller! Create computer code to interact with electronic circuits that can automate your world. . IRSC educators who are well-versed in the field of electronics, programming, and inquiry-based learning will guide your discovery as you draft, design, and build! Program an LED matrix, send and receive data using radio frequency, and create your own controlled-access entry using RFID. Then experiment with adding Bluetooth and wireless capabilities to the Arduino. Learn about the speed of sound, and how sonar is used to measure distance. Explore the world of electronic circuitry in this hands-on book camp facilitated by educators versed in the field of electrical engineering, programming, and inquiry-based learning. Build prototype circuits on a breadboard and apply it to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Learn the art of soldering utilizing equipment used by professionals. Use professional test equipment such as function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters and more. TeckKnow Camp

June 4–7, 2018

For Martin County students who have completed grades 6, 7 or 8 by June 2018 with a minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA

Fee: Free, but space is limited. Eligible students will be accepted based on the date applications are received. Students who have previously attended will be placed on a waiting list. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

At TechKnow Camp, students will learn to design, build, program and operate robots; delve into sustainable energy projects; try their hands at android coding; participate in leadership activities and engineering competitions; and learn graphic design techniques and hone digital media skills.
