2. Know Your Student Type
- First Time in College: If you have never before attended college—even if you have earned college credit through high school Dual Enrollment—you are considered a first-time in college applicant.
- Returning to IRSC: Welcome back! We’re pleased that you are resuming your education, and we are committed to supporting your success as a returning student. Students who have not been enrolled at the College within the last 12 months must reapply for admission.
- Dual Enrollment: The IRSC Dual Enrollment program allows eligible students to simultaneously earn high school credit (toward their high school diploma) and credit toward an Associate Degree or career training certificate for an eligible course.
- Transfer: If you are coming to IRSC from another college or university—in-state, out-of-state, or abroad—you are considered a transfer student. Applicants who are transferring high school Dual Enrollment credits should select First Time in College.
- Transient: Students currently attending another college or university who wish to take courses at IRSC and transfer the credit back to their “home” institution may be admitted as “transient” students. Transient students should be advised by their home institution regarding which courses to take at IRSC and determine if they have satisfied the necessary course prerequisites.
- Bachelor’s Degree: You must hold an Associate Degree to be admitted and enroll in a Bachelor’s Degree program at IRSC. There is a $30 application fee required for the Baccalaureate program. Save your payment confirmation-receipt.
- Educator Preparation Institution (EPI): You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree to be admitted and enroll in the EPI program at IRSC. There is a $30 application fee required for the EPI program. Save your payment confirmation-receipt.
