ONLINE: Emerging Technologies Summer Camp (through July 31)

Indian River State College (IRSC) and the Children Services Council of St. Lucie County invite children ages 13 to 17 to explore the world of emerging technologies safely from home as participants in an online Emerging Technologies Summer Learning Program taking place June 15 to July 31. This unique opportunity is available without cost through a partnership between IRSC and the Children Services Council of St. Lucie County for children who are residents of St. Lucie County.

Participating students will interact, collaborate, and connect with other children in the program as they learn about computer literacy, coding and artificial intelligence, modern electronics, robotics, automation, and website development and design. Each student will create and program over 20 different fun projects using a microcontroller called Arduino and build a robotic car and water-powered hydraulic gripper arm.

The Emerging Technologies Summer Learning Program also introduces participants to several programming languages. Participants will build websites to showcase their experiences and the projects completed in the program. Children in the online program will be provided with all needed supplies and materials for program activities but must have access to a computer and internet access to participate.

Due to the extensive hands-on nature of this online program, space is limited. This program is funded by the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County. The Children’s Services Council is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in St. Lucie County.
