Vero Beach resident Anthony Slaughter is the Indian River State College March 2021 Staff Employee of the Month. Tony began his employment with IRSC, first serving part-time as a Lab Assistant starting February 2014 until his hire as a full-time Custodian I in June of 2014. In June of 2016, Tony earned a place on the Facilities and Maintenance team in the role of Maintenance I on Pruitt Campus—the position he holds today.
Tony demonstrates an attitude of service and self-motivation that is unquestionably influenced by his experience as a Veteran with wartime service in both Iraq and Afghanistan. As a maintenance team member, Tony embraces new assignments and tasks that result in a positive impact on the environment and the appearance of the campus for the most important visitors each day—our students.
Tony is always ready to learn more about the College he loves and to grow his skill set to improve his work. His commitment to the highest standards ensure the campus is optimally positioned for the arrival, safety and comfort of staff, faculty, students and community members. While Tony is a valued and well-respected member of the Pruitt Campus, he does not seek the spotlight. He quietly goes about his daily tasks and proactively collaborates with the many agencies of the College on-campus that range from faculty, Pruitt Library, Student Services, the Campus President and Physical Plant to ensure a campus that is comfortable, welcoming and functions at a very high level.
Tony’s co-workers best share what an impact he has on them and campus life at Pruitt. “Tony always brings his A-game to the campus every day and executes his responsibilities with pride a can-do attitude,” shares one co-worker. Another co-worker states, “He has a ‘whatever it takes to get the job done’ philosophy that’s contagious and motivates others to do their best.” Finally, another Pruitt Campus team member adds, “Anthony Slaughter exudes his IRSC pride in everything he does. We are so thankful that he’s on our team!”
