Janice Griffin is the September 2019 Staff Employee of the Month

Indian River State College recognizes Palm City resident Janice Griffin as the September 2019 Staff Employee of the Month. Janice first joined the IRSC family in January 2007 to work as a Clerical Assistant I, before her promotion to Clerk I in May 2007. In July 2013, Janice earned a promotion to Registration Assistant II—the position she holds today, as she serves as part of the IRSC registration team on the Chastain Campus.

Janice is an inspiring example of a student-centered employee. She strives to take the time needed to guide students with a complete perspective from start to finish. Students who visit Chastain Campus recognize and trust Janice to assist them in getting the academic and registration assistance they need to achieve their goals.

Janice’s care for our students is immediately apparent. In her role as Registration Assistant, she seeks to ensure students walk away with a positive first experience. Janice is not afraid to ask a clarifying question to guarantee complete accuracy—essential when dealing with student applications and records. If there is ever an instance when Janice is not positive of an answer, she will double-check. She is always willing to assist co-workers at the Chastain Campus and even helps with advising if needed. Janice endeavors to be an ambassador of IRSC, and she brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and exceptional leadership skills to work each day.

Janice’s co-workers on the Chastain Campus are happy to share her positive impact on IRSC student success. One such co-worker states, “Janice works to give each student that comes to the Chastain Campus the complete attention they deserve.” Another co-worker says, “Janice is on the front line every day and goes above and beyond for our students. I have never seen anyone so dedicated and willing to go the extra mile.” Finally, one colleague declares, “Janice is an amazing individual! Her positive demeanor and ‘whatever it takes’ attitude often makes all the difference for the students she works with each day.”
