Pierre Pacheco is the May 2019 Staff Employee of the Month

May 28, 2019 Robert Lane

Indian River State College recognizes Port St. Lucie resident Pierre Pacheco as the May 2019 Staff Employee of the Month. Pierre first began his career with IRSC in September of 2012 as Human Resources Recruitment Technical Assistant before joining the team at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex in October of 2014 to serve as Selection Center Coordinator.

Pierre’s co-workers know him to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and very inquisitive. These qualities make him highly adept at screening prospective candidates in the Selection Center to move them smoothly and efficiently through the application process. Pierre’s focus is on the student’s and our institution’s best interests. He frequently works directly with applicants as he guides them, and offers career counseling to both applicants and students alike. Pierre is the consummate team player who goes above and beyond to accommodate the applicants, students, co-workers, and agencies he is in contact with daily.

Pierre led the effort to computerize most record-keeping for applicants, as well as for various testing and hiring processes. This effort improved tracking of candidates through the application process and of recruits through their academy, state certification exams, and hiring outcomes. Pierre is also responsible for monitoring the Selection Center financial accounts and verifying that bills from the FBI, FDLE, and other bodies are accurate.

Pierre’s co-workers and the students he works with daily share their thoughts on his positive influence. One co-worker states, “When I speak with him, I can truly tell that he cares about his job and the students. His cheerful attitude gets the job done, while also making work enjoyable.” One student adds, “Mr. Pacheco is always the first to volunteer when student success is the objective. He introduced us to new resources that enhance our employability!” Finally, another co-worker says, “Pierre is more than a team player, he is a vital asset to IRSC, the Public Service Education Division, the Criminal Justice Department, and myself! He cares about our students, and they deeply appreciate him for it.”
