Indian River State College recognizes Stuart resident Dr. Anne Drabczyk as the December Faculty Member of the Month. Ann joined the IRSC Health Science Division Faculty in August 2013 as an Assistant Professor and serves as the Healthcare Management Program Director.
Anne believes in the power of team, and demonstrates her commitment to the statement “Together Everyone Accomplishes More!” through her dedicated work with both Faculty members and her students. Anne was involved with the design and development of several new courses within the national standard Quality Matters format, and is an advocate for Open Educational Resources (OERs), while she uses them in her courses to allow students to keep current in the rapid changing healthcare field by accessing the latest trending information without the need for textbooks.
In 2017 Anne was awarded the Basil L. King Endowed Teaching Chair in Health Science with the goal to develop a Healthcare Management Co-curricular focused on embedding professional development service learning activates in IRSC’s Healthcare Management program curriculum. This led Anne to introduce World Café style conversations where IRSC Healthcare Management Bachelor’s Degree students have the opportunity to gain real-world perspective and insight through conversations with professional healthcare mentors from local healthcare organizations.
Anne is also recognized as a Fulbright Specialist; serves on the Regional Board of Directors of the ACHE/Treasure Coast Healthcare Executives Network; and is a member of the Florida Public Health Association, the Health Service Management Curriculum Committee for the Florida Department of Education, and the IRSC Planning and Assessment Committee. She is also a Faculty Advisor to the IRSC Campus Coalition Government—Student Healthcare Network, and serves as a member of the Healthcare Advisory Committee.
Anne’s students are the first to share her commitment to their success. “Dr. Drabczyk’s door is always open to us,” shares one student. Another says, “Dr. Drabczyk even makes herself available when she is on vacation.” Another adds, “When assignments are due, she is very welcoming and helpful to clear up any questions students have.” Finally one student states, “Dr. Drabczyk dedicates all of her time towards student success, we love her!”
