Kendra Auberry Named April 2019 Faculty Member of the Month

Indian River State College is recognizing Hobe Sound resident Kendra Auberry as the April Faculty Member of the Month. Kendra joined the Library Services faculty as an Assistant Professor in August 2013 and now serves as the STEM Librarian on Pruitt Campus.
An expert in the field of research, Kendra is committed to student success and guides students to quality and reliable resources that help them build lifelong research skills. Kendra assists students with every type of research project as well as develops and leads instructional sessions on how to find resources that strengthen digital literacy skills to complete their course objectives.
Kendra was part of the development of an Upward Bound Grant awarding $1.3 million to IRSC to help build math and science skills of high school students so they can be successful in college and in math and science careers. Kendra served as chair of the AFC Learning Resources Commission from January 2016 to December 2017. In this role, she implemented an annual statewide Spring Virtual Conference allowing librarians and learning resources staff from all Florida state colleges to present projects and compete and win one of two prizes.
A valued team member at Pruitt Campus, Kendra initiated and provides Makerspace programming, serves as an advisor for the Health and Self Club, and volunteers as an instructor for Walk in Place and Zumba classes. Kendra holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Horticulture from Purdue University, Master of Library Science from Indiana University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Philosophy in Texts and Technology.
Students who utilize Kendra’s wealth of research knowledge or take her class best share how she impacts student success. “Professor Auberry is always available to help with any research or reference needs.” Another student states, “Professor Auberry is willing to do ‘whatever it takes’ to promote engagement and success.” Another student talks about their class experience with Kendra, “Professor Auberry is a great instructor. I would definitely take her again!”
