Dr. Sarah Wyatt Named February 2019 Faculty Member of the Month

Indian River State College is recognizing Stuart resident Dr. Sarah Wyatt as the February Faculty Member of the Month. Sarah joined the IRSC faculty in August of 2012 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in August of 2017, the position she holds today.
Sarah’s impact on student success is far reaching, both through her direct involvement with students in the classroom and through her many efforts to advance the work of the College Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). Sarah is a vital member of the QEP MAT 1033 team, serving as the faculty team leader for the mathematics course. Additionally, she has created detailed guidelines for instructors of MAT 1100 and multiple handouts and notes to assist students in the course. Sarah will be the designated coordinator for this course after the QEP process is completed.
Sarah also trains new adjunct faculty on MAT 1033 and MAT 1100 courses and developed and revised Connect and ALEKS software master shells used by all faculty teaching the MAT 1100 course. Sarah has also made walk-through videos for the homework in multiple math courses. Sarah works each semester assisting with organizing math class schedules for the Chastain Campus.
Students in Sarah’s classes best share her effectiveness as a mathematics instructor. One such student states, “Dr. Wyatt is always there if you need extra help. She is willing to work with you.” Another shares, “Dr. Wyatt truly cares about her students’ success and provides them with many resources. She is dependable and takes the time to build a relationship with every person she encounters.” One student relates the impact Sarah’s instruction declaring, “Dr. Wyatt changed my outlook on Math completely. She restored my confidence!”
